Virginia!
Quilting in Virginia began with European influences, initially using materials like linen and wool dyed with natural colors from plants and animals.
I'm not sure I want to use fabric dyed from plants and animals.
I also am not sure I like this block. It probably would be really pretty in the right colors, but this just doesn't do it for me.
Cutting
Piecing
Using your 4 assorted blues for piece A sew them all together along their long sides.
Using B and C make 8 HST's. Sew your HST's into sets of two matching points in the middle bottom edge.
Sew one set along both sides of your center block. To make your top and bottom rows sew piece D onto both ends.
Sew your top and bottom onto your block.
Next we will create the sides of our block using E, F and G.
Now we will create our top and bottom rows using G, H and I.
Sew your rows together to complete your block.

I am a big fan of the fabric for Virginia, and I love that I can see the coast line end of this project.
