Oklahoma!
In 1985, state representative Enoch Kelly Haney asked quilter Nettie White to create a quilt to honor the state flower, the Gaillardia, to represent the state's Native American heritage.
The quilt was finished in 1986 after working on it for only 3 months.
I really like how simple this block actually is. I will be making this one.

Cutting

Piecing
Starting with pieces A and B make 2 HST.
Pieces D and E make 2 HST.
Pieces G and H make 2 HST.
Pieces J and K make 2 HST.
You should have the following after making all your HST's.
Next we will add C, F, I and L to their respective spots.

Take these four sets of blocks and sew them together to create your center block.

Take pieces M and N and create 8 HST.
Use pieces O and P to create your sides and top and bottom of your block. P goes on the sides of the block with HST, O will be the corners of your top and bottom. Lay out your pieces like below.
Sew your HST, P and HST together to make your side pieces. Attach these to your block.

Sew O, HST, P, HST, and O together to create your top and bottom rows. Attach these to your block.

Once you have your top and bottom rows attached. sew on Q to your top and bottom of the block.
Pieces R will attach to the sides of your block to complete your block.

U.S.A. Map Quilt
Ok, now you can see that Oklahoma is on the quilt.
