The Nevada state museum in Carson City hosts mining-era quilts.
I would love to go see them! I love historic quilts like that.
Today we are adding Nevada to our blocks and map quilt.

Cutting

Using A and B create 4 four batch blocks for the corners.
Use pieces C and D make four sets of blocks. All of these together with the four patches will make up the outside of our block. Use 2 four patches on the ends of your C and D block. Make two of these rows for the top and bottom.

Next we will make the center for our block. Take pieces E, F, and G.
E is the center of our block. Put F on the sides of E and pieces G on the top and bottom of E.
Next take we will add H and I to our block. Pieces H go on the sides and I go on the top and bottom.

Take your side pieces made out of C and D and sew them to the sides of your center block.

Sew your top and bottom row to the center row to complete your block.

U.S.A Map Quilt
Nevada is a little hard to see in this picture because the reds blended so perfectly. Tomorrow I am going to sit down and get Washington, Oregon and California sewn down.

Are you making a map quilt? How is yours turning out?
