Louisiana

Louisiana

Acadian or Cajun "courtepoint" (French influenced coverlets) are a tradition in Southwest Louisiana. Louisiana state museum has examples of them.

I really like how this block looks, but I don't want to do that many HST's.

Cutting

Piecing

Using pieces A and B create 12 HST. Repeat with pieces C and D.

Place piece G in the center of your block.

Next we will place pieces E. You can also sew your center row together. Your block laid out should look like this.

Lastly place pieces F. Sew your pieces together to create corner blocks.

Sew your rows together so you have a top and bottom row ready to attach.

Sew all the rows together to complete your block.
