Illinois!
Illinois State Museum and Art Institute of Chicago hold important Midwestern Quilts. Illinois was a hub for 19th century crazy quilts.
Have you ever tried to make a crazy quilt?
I think this block is interesting. I like that it has a unique look to it.

Cutting

Piecing
Using pieces D and E make 10 HST. Repeat with F and G and make 2 HST.
Once you have your HST you can start placing the pieces and sewing sections together.
Starting with pieces A and B take two of each and sew them together alternating the order. Repeat this with the rest and make 4 sets.

You should have a layout like this so far. At this point you can sew your four center HST's together to make the very center of your block.

Next we will add piece C to both sides of the yellow and blue sets you just made.

Next lets add piece H to our corner blocks. You should have a layout like this.

At this point sew everything for your top, bottom and middle rows together.

Sew all your rows to each other to create the majority of your block.

Lastly we will be adding our border around our block starting with the sides.
Using two I pieces and 1 J piece create your sides.
To create your top and bottom use pieces K, J and I.

Sew your top and bottom rows to your block and you will have a completed block.

U.S.A. Map Quilt
I'm making some good progress putting this whole thing together, I am a little behind on sewing everything down, luckily the steam a seam is doing a great job holding it in place while I move everything around.
Are you making a map quilt? How is it looking so far?
