Idaho

This block looks like a lot but it really isn't too hard.

Cutting

Using pieces A and B make 8 four patch squares

Using 2 of the four patches, C, D, E, G, H,  and J piece together your corner to look as below. Create vertical rows to then sew all of them together. You will make 2 blocks that look like this one.

Sew together

  • E and G
  • C, four patch and, D
  • H and four patch
  • Add J onto the side next to H and the four patch

Next create two more blocks using 2 four patches, C, D, E, G, H and I.

Sew together

  • E and G
  • C, four patch and, D
  • H and four patch
  • Add J onto the side so that it is touching G, D, and the four patch in the corner.

Take one of each set of blocks and sew them together to create your top and bottom row.

Now take your remaining I and J pieces and F to make the middle row of our block.

Sew your rows together to finish your block.

U.S.A. Map Quilt

We are ready to start a new row heading down and start being able to sew down our states with Idaho. You can see it is starting to come together and look like something, even with just four states on it. A little more and we should have a good idea what this whole thing is going to look like. I'm really excited.
